About Us

The MCQ story started in Western Australia over 33 years ago when, in 1992, our Managing Director – Mr Minh Quang Lam – opened the family’s first fresh fruit, vegetables, and Asian grocery store in the suburb of Beechboro, Western Australia.

 

The Lam family believes that success comes from hard work, supplying the highest quality products and produce at the best possible value, and providing customers with exceptional service.

 

MCQ quickly became a major player in the Western Australian supermarket industry, expanding our footprint with the opening of a massive 2,500-square metre shop at Coventry Village Shopping Centre in Morley.

This was followed by the acquisition and opening of a 2,500-square metre Cash & Carry supermarket outlet, and a 2,500-square metre warehouse in the outer suburb of Malaga.

In 2023, We opened Pavilion Fresh Market at One Subiaco, followed in 2024 by the launch of MCQ Mirrabooka at The Square Mirrabooka—bringing our fresh produce, Asian groceries, and dining experiences to even more communities.

 

With a strong background and deep understanding of fresh Western Australian produce, the Lam family is perfectly positioned to source and provide customers with the freshest fruit and vegetables. With extensive experience and knowledge in Asian grocery, backed by a strong network of quality global partners and suppliers trading under powerful brands, MCQ is able to source, import, and distribute only the best quality products—passing on greater savings to our customers.

 

Today, MCQ is also home to MCQ Vietnamese Street Food at all three of our locations—Morley, Subiaco and Mirrabooka. Authentic Vietnamese street food is located within the supermarket, serving an incredible selection of freshly made Asian cuisine on site.
